Swimming Against the Tide
To ride the wave, first you have to be swimming against the tide. It is going to require
some physical strength. When the waves come against you, you will need to paddle harder. When you are in proximity of that big wave you can either ride it or hide under it. If you choose to ride it, you will have the experience of a lifetime. If you hide under you just missed out on the opportunity.
Since the Beginning…
Jesus knew of the importance of opportunities foremost. Opportunities can come in the most unexpected places and times. It is written in the Bible, “Immediately he made the disciples get into the boat and go before him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowds.” (Matthew 14:21)
Jesus knows everything. He knew that a storm was coming, but regardless of that he made the disciples get on the boat. It also says, “but the boat by this time was a long way from the land, beaten by the waves, for the wind was against them.” (Matthew 14:24)
So now the storm was in full effect and they were far from land. Everything was against them, but it was time for the disciples to witness the power and glory of Jesus. Jesus appeared to them walking on water. Can you imagine such scene? Then it all made sense. This is why Jesus made them get on the boat. It was to show his power. To show them that with Him we are limitless. We can even walk on water too, if we keep our eyes on Him.
What an opportunity Jesus gave his disciples!
